Organic coffees are grown and processed without the addition of pesticides and other chemicals. To be certified organic requires that these practices are documented 3 years running. Shade organic coffee has the additional benefit of being grown under the canopy of large trees providing a natural alternative to herbicide use and an important habitat for native and migratory birds.
